Tea meditation is exactly what it sounds like: making and drinking tea slowly, with your full attention. No cushion or app required, just a cup and ten minutes. It’s a beautiful way to close a yoga practice or to pause on a busy day.

What tea meditation is (and isn’t)

It isn’t about emptying your mind. It’s about noticing: the sound of the kettle, the color of the tea as it steeps, the warmth of the cup, the aroma, the taste. When your thoughts wander, you simply come back to the cup.

A 10-minute tea meditation

  1. Prepare slowly. Listen to the water heating.
  2. Watch it steep. Notice how the color changes over 5 minutes.
  3. Hold the cup with both hands and feel its warmth.
  4. Breathe in the aroma three times before the first sip.
  5. Sip in silence, noticing the flavor change as the tea cools.

After yoga

After a yoga practice, your body is warm and your breath is steady. A cup of herbal tea in savasana’s afterglow is a lovely way to stay in that quiet space a little longer.

Our Mindful Tea was blended for this kind of practice: bright lemongrass, tart hibiscus and rose hips with a soft note of nettle, all caffeine-free.
